The Manuscripts
The KJV was translated from the Textus Receptus and Antiochian manuscripts (known as the Byzantine Text or the Majority Text), which agree with at least 90-95% of all New Testament manuscripts in existence, but the new versions rely heavily on just a few manuscripts, primarily Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. It is interesting to note that all of the great Bibles of the Reformation were translated from the Textus Receptus, while the Roman Catholic Church has NEVER used it. The Catholic Church has ALWAYS supported the minority manuscripts which are now being used for most modern "Protestant" versions.
