Catholic Kids Confess about Confession
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Mark 9:42
On all Catholic Eternal Word
Television Network (EWTN), last week (today is 08-13-04), one of their children's shows asked the kids (I don't know if this is exact) something like “What does confession mean to you?”
Before I get to their answers, remember that these little kids can only say what they have been taught and led to believe. They can only say what the Catholic church has taught to believe.
The first kid responded “It is when you confess your sins to the priest, for he is like God” The priest is like God? Do Catholics really believe that? Is that what the Church of Rome really teaches? You'd better believe it, cause these kids can only parrot their priests.
Satan tried to be like God, and look what it did to him:
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isaiah 14:12-15
The second kid said “... The priest forgives your sins.” Wait a minute, if the priest can forgive sins, he would have to be God, for God alone can forgive sins: “Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
” (Lk 5:21). Maybe the first kid had the Catholic teaching right when he says that the priest is “like God”.
But the saddest one of all was what the last kid had to say. He said “If I go to confession, I'll probably go to heaven.” .
“If I go to confession” He believes that salvation is by works, not faith, and that if he goes to confession, he has a higher probability of getting into heaven. Catholics will tell you that they are saved by grace, but they won't tell you that in order to get that grace you have to take the Eucharist, go to confession, be baptized, pray to Mary, ect. You are saved by grace, but you have to do works in order to get that saving grace!! What an abomination! The Bible tells us that we get saving grace through faith in Christ, not works:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8,9
“.. I'll probably go to heaven” Doing these sacramental works may get you brownie points with God, but they still do not guarantee that you will make it into heaven. The Church of Rome even says that if someone claims to know for sure that they are headed for heaven, they are committing the terrible "Sin" of Presumption! I'll probably go to heaven! Does that mean that even after he goes to confession he still might not make it into heaven? The Bible gives us much more assurance than that. It says that you can KNOW for a fact that you are going to heaven: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
” (1 John 5:13).
We must pray for these children, their parents and instructors, that they would come out of this deception and trust the Bible as their only source of faith and doctrine.
* EWTN: If they really followed the Eternal Word they would flee from the Catholic religion
