Testimony of an Ex-Catholic
My own testimony is that when I was
twelve in 1982 I accepted Jesus at a beach trip with an arcade run
Christian club. It was a thing where you paid three dollars and got two
free tokens per day, two hours of unlimited video game play on
Saturdays. The catch was that you had to wear this Jesus fish necklace
if you wanted to get your free tokens. I wasn't yet a Christian, but
was rather inclined to become one. My mom took me to Presbyterian
Church and my dad was a Catholic in name only. My mom stopped going to
church when I was ten. I wanted to give my life to God, but was aimless
and had no idea how. So at this beach trip, the Gospel was presented,
and an invitation was made to repent and pray the sinners prayer. I
repented as best I knew how and prayed it, placing my faith in Jesus'
death for my sins and then responded when they asked all who prayed it
to come down. They gave me a Good News New Testament and sent me on my
way after making some encouraging words. Two weeks later I moved sixty
miles away. My mom would not take me to Church and my dad was worse
about it. There were none in walking distance. So I did not go to
Church until I was 19. I had been studying "religion" and decided to
convert to Roman Catholicism and was involved in a rather "Old School"
version that did everything in Latin and according to the older, and
even more blashpemous rituals. As a result of hitting rock bottem
spiriually from my own sinfulness, I was convicted of my sin and began
to look to the finished work of Jesus Christ for my forgiveness and not
the ritual cleansings of that evil Babylonian Mystery Religion. I gave
my life to Christ again in 1997. I am a member of a non-denomination
community church that is a fundamental Bible believing church. I have
used other translations in the past but do not trust them and only use
the KJV now.
God really has blessed me by saving
me. I feel that my spiritual life so far has mirrored Israel. Before I
was saved I was in Egypt. I grew some but had no direction and because
of my sin I had my Babylonian captivity in the Roman Catholic Church. I
am so glad to have come out of the Great Harlot!
